SQL Server DBA – Milton Keynes - £35k
A SQL Server DBA / Database Administrator is required by an expanding software provider based in Milton Keynes on the Bedfordshire / Buckinghamshire border. Candidates can expect a salary of up to £35,000 + benefits.
The SQL Server DBA will have in depth knowledge of designing and supporting large scale SQL databases and will ideally have a strong knowledge of ETL processes, databases optimisation and high performance reporting. Previous experience of other SQL skills such as clustering and replication advantageous, but not essential.
--- Duties ---
- Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support database systems.
- Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning.
-To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime (
- Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL development.

- Experience of managing multiple MS SQL Server RDBMS on large systems
- Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects
- Experience Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
- Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security

The ideal candidate will have in depth knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and a good knowledge of ETL. Any knowledge of SQL server report writing or .NET in addition to an MCDBA qualification would be desirable but not essential.
